About this activity
Leave Chiang Mai behind for a meaningful, feel-good morning with elephants, no shows, no riding, and a focus on watching them simply live like elephants in the forest. After pick-up, you’ll enjoy a scenic ~1h40 drive to an ethical sanctuary area in Mae Wang. Places created to move away from typical elephant-tourism activities and focus on a more elephant-friendly model, where visitors observe from a safe distance and learn about elephant behavior, conservation, and the work of the mahouts Once you arrive, your private English-speaking guide will help you get the most out of the visit—explaining what you’re seeing, answering questions, and making sure the experience stays calm and respectful. You’ll walk through natural viewing areas where elephants may be grazing, socializing, bathing in mud, or resting—all at their own pace. To complete the experience, you’ll enjoy a Thai meal included. Then it’s time to head back, arriving in Chiang Mai around 2:30 PM.
